Small group lessons in your home with friends that you and your child choose. Designed to keep your child’s curiosity piqued, reduce summer slide, and introduce new learning strategies/techniques for school while hanging out with friends.
Step 1: Choose Your Group
Learning groups are for 2-4 children and are 6 hours each (four 1.5 hour lessons over 2 weeks). Specially designed for Rising 2nd to 9th Graders.

We’ll learn how to do simple research on a topic of your choice, take notes, organize sections, and perfect revising/editing tasks. At the end, we’ll share our work with each other and celebrate our growth as researchers and writers. Requires an iPad, Chrome Book, or other Laptop and wifi access.
We’ll choose a book to read – and really dive into it! We’ll learn to identify the overarching themes, understand how the characters grow and change, uncover the ways that the author keeps us engaged, and broaden our vocabulary with rich language from the text.
Books can be chosen or assigned based on grade level.
With our smart phones, we’ll experiment with artful techniques for taking and editing pictures on a theme. We’ll group them, set them to music, and write exciting sensory-rich captions to create a unique digital journal. Requires a smart phone and an iPad, Chrome Book, or other Laptop and wifi access.

Celena Turney is a teacher, artist. non-profit leader, and parent. In her work with learners of all ages — whether at museums or arboreta, in the classroom, in afterschool programs, or on the stage — she understands how to inspire curiosity, provoke the imagination, and instill a sense of determination and perseverance.
She is passionate about empowering students of all ages to realize their creative gifts and talents. She has worked with public and private school students and their families in Campbell, Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Menlo Park.
