In-Home Academic Coaching


Celena Turney serves local families by providing academic coaching in language arts, math, history, and the sciences (K12).


She is also available to lead study groups and book clubs, provide test prep services for public, private, and homeschooled high school students, and facilitate group projects for fairs, competitions, and other occasions.  


She provides rigorous 1:1 strengths-based coaching that blends subject-matter problem-solving strategies with organization and time management skills, designed to empower learners to achieve academic and personal success.

Celena Turney


The local office is owned and led by Celena Turney, a parent, non-profit leader, and former educator and instructional coach. In her work with learners of all ages — whether at museums or arboreta, in the classroom, in afterschool programs, or on the stage — she understands how to inspire curiosity, provoke the imagination, and instill a sense of determination and perseverance.  As Director of Teaching & Learning at Tutor Doctor Palo Alto, she looks for tutors and academic coaches who bring this philosophy to life!


She is passionate about empowering students of all ages to realize their creative gifts and talents.  Helping students maximize their potential through the work of Tutor Doctor’s tutoring and coaching services, is her number one goal.


Giving back to the community is important to her.  Currently, she has projects with Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, , California Arts Now, the Bay Area STEM Ecosystem, and volunteers her time in the school districts she serves.
